The effectiveness of the five-stage teaching model "Bybi" on students' academic performance in tenth grade Persian lessons

Abstract

The present study aimed to investigate the effectiveness of the Bybee five-stage teaching model on students' academic performance in the tenth grade Persian lesson. The present study is a quasi-experimental study with a pre-test-post-test design with a control group. The statistical population of the study includes all tenth grade students in schools in Shout city, and the sample was selected by convenience sampling. One class was considered as the experimental group (20 students) and one class as the control group (20 students). To measure students' academic performance in the Persian lesson, the academic achievement test of this lesson in the tenth grade was used The findings of the present study showed that there is a significant difference between the experimental group (teaching using the Bybee method) and the control group (teaching using the traditional direct method) in language, literary skills, and comprehension. The results of this study showed that the Bybee five-stage teaching model is more effective than the traditional direct method for teaching tenth grade Persian.
