Today, with the advancement in technology and access to extensive information, the need for effective educational methods to achieve sustainable education and lasting learning has been raised. In the past, playing games was considered separate from education. Children were punished for playing or were expected to dedicate time outside of school and class to play. With the advancement of education, since the 19th century, education and training have been combined with play and teachers have thought about combining educational plans with entertaining activities. So far, various methods have been proposed for using games in teaching that are mostly influenced by Western educational methods. As each language has its own unique characteristics, this study seeks to find some games and entertaining methods in old Persian texts that do not play much role in teaching Persian language and literature due to lack of recognition or updating. This study introduces these traditional techniques and games using a descriptive-analytical method and proposes suggestions for their use in elementary education. The findings of the study show that the old games and techniques in Iranian culture not only strengthen listening, reading, writing, and speaking skills, but also facilitate the teaching of words, literary devices, and comprehension.
